No, the hand aids are exactly the same. Instead of pulling on the mouth, you push on one half of the head (for steering) or squeeze the whole of the head (for stopping). It is rather as though you are "head reining"; in the manner of neck reining, except that the head reining is more positive and applied to a more appropriate part of the anatomy.
