Bit vs. Bitless, The CHA Experiment

In October, 2008, at the Certified Horsemanship Association's International Conference, Dr. Cook conducted a unique experiment.  It demonstrated that the performance of four horses immediately and significantly improved, within four minutes, when their jointed snaffle bridle was replaced with a crossunder bitless bridle. Four riding school horses that were being ridden in a crossunder bitless bridle for the very first time, completed two four-minute exercise tests, first in a snaffle bridle, then in the BitlessBridle. The entire experiment (in better quality video) is available on DVD.  Contact our Customer Service department for more information (866.235.0938)

 Icelandic Tölting

Icelandic horses "tölting" in The Bitless Bridle. The Tölt is a gait that is often described as being unique to the Icelandic Horse. The footfalls are the same as a racking gait, but the Icelandic horse is bred for more freedom and liquidity of movement.  At top speed the gait  is known as the skeiğ, "flying pace," or flugskeiğ; it is a smooth and highly valued gait, ridden in short bursts at great speed.

Team Penning - Kathy and Keirstyn

Both youngsters had never seen cows, and it was only their 11th time under saddle ever.

Bitless Bridle on the Silver Screen

The Bitless Bridle being used in a "Raider's Of the Lost Ark" spoof.  This is a link to a low-resolution rough cut of the scene.
